continued from part 13

We can give you our current recommended (recommendation comes only through successful previous transactions) freight agents so you can obtain your own freight quotes, we reserve the right not to use your nominated freight agent if we have bad previous experiences as we place our dog’s well being foremost.

Some information which may be required to obtain a freight quote:

  1. dog’s call or pet name if known
  2. our name as the sellers
  3. age (eg 5 months)
  4. sex
  5. approximate weight (eg 5 mths 15-20kg; adult bitch 27-30kg)
  6. approximate “Domestic Crate Size” (eg  4 to 4.5 mths size PP50; 4.5 to 5 mths size 4/PP60)
  7. always confirm crate hire is included, some (like Qantas) don’t and you have to read into their quotes/websites to find the info that it isn’t int he quote
  8. hire a crate as it won’t be long before the puppy outgrows it
  9. hire crates have to be left at the airport
  10. departure is from Melbourne Airport
  11. direct (no stops) flights are kinder to the puppy as they haven’t been on planes before or away from home on such adventures
  12. if there is the option look for departure and arrival in the cooler parts of the day
  13. generally I am happy to take domestic (within Australia) travellers to the airport terminal if drop off is late morning to mid afternoon, I have to cross Melbourne and peak hour traffic is a horror/ for international travellers there will be added trips to vets for tests, and inspection, if your agent uses The Ultimate Vet then I can travel back and forth there easily and we can arrange a pickup/drop off for the final leg
  14. you need to advise the destination!
  15. try to collect from a major airport, the regional airlines/airports aren’t really set up for dog travel and we have had very upset puppies
  16. much simpler if the buyer does the booking, once confirming my availability, so the agent/airline is paid direct

In 2020 we used and verified the customer care of

both offer quick quotes and were adaptable to changing flights due to high temperatures
